Jennifer Lopez Cancels Concert in Cyprus
J.Lo needs new birthday plans. She was supposed to perform at the opening of the Cratos Premium Hotel in Cyprus July 24, her 41st b-day, then stay with her hubby, their kids, and friends at the lavish new digs. But, she’ll have to find a new party venue now because she’s decide to cancel her gig after discovering information about the controversial area.
The statement from the Lopez camp read (via E! Online): “Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse. After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of her advisers to withdraw from the appearance.”
Apparently the hotel site is the place where Turkey, Greece’s bitter enemy, invaded and forcibly removed 200,000 Greek loyalists in 1974. So, thousands of people protested her Cyprus plans on the internet — 19,000 people signed a Facebook petition, even.
She was reportedly supposed to get a $3 million paycheck for her gig.
