Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz vs. John Morrison
US Championship Triple Threat Submissions Count Anywhere

In the closing moments, John Morrison did a huge stunt, leaping from off the stage set onto Miz and Bryan below. All three guys were down for a bit and finally started to get up. Morrison managed to apply a Texas Cloverleaf onto The Miz. Miz was about to tap when his assistant Alex Riley rushed in to break things up. Daniel Bryan knocked Riley into a nearby cameraman, then was able to get Miz down into the Labelle Lock picking up the win. Announcer Michael Cole actually admitted “Bryan is the real deal” but added he still thinks he’s a nerd.

Winner: Daniel Bryan wins via submission over The Miz to retain the US Championship.

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
WWE Title Hell in a Cell match

In the late stages of this one, The Celtic Warrior took the Viper out for a Powerbomb attempt on the steel steps. However, Orton countered the move to slam Sheamus onto the steps instead. From there, Orton hit the huge RKO to finish off Sheamus, on the steel steps! After the pinfall, Orton celebrated by climbing the cell with his WWE Championship belt!

Winner: Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Sheamus to retain the WWE Championship.

Josh Matthews interview the six rookie divas from NXT Season 3 backstage. He talked of how the first elimination is Tuesday. They were interrupted as The Nexus arrived in to talk about how as of tomorrow night there will be six members of Nexus, when John Cena joins. They showed a wristband which they said will be given to John Cena very soon.

Ricardo Rodriguez introduced Alberto Del Rio to the crowd, who drove out in a Rolls Royce. He came to the ring talking of how tonight is his big Pay-Per-View debut. Del Rio bragged about being able to beat anyone in the WWE right now. That brought out the Rated-R Superstar Edge. He called Del Rio stupid, including the scarf he was wearing. Jack Swagger arrived out next saying it was stupid a Mexican and American are fighting in the ring and Swagger, the all-American American isn’t fighting. Swagger and Del Rio ended up attacking Edge in the ring, and Del Rio slipped outside of the ring.

Suddenly the lights flashed and email sound dinged. The new laptop was in place and Michael Cole read the latest email from the anonymous GM. It said Edge owes the GM an apology on tomorrow night’s Raw, but first he’ll face Swagger in a match for tonight’s PPV!

Edge vs. Jack Swagger

The match was fierce and ferocious with Swagger eventually getting a bit of a bloodied lip out of the deal. In the closing moments, Edge hit his trademark Spear for the win. However, Edge’s ankle/leg appeared to take an injury thanks to Swagger.

Winner: Edge wins by pinfall over Jack Swagger.

John Cena vs. Wade Barrett
Join Nexus or Nexus Disbands?

Prior to the match, it had been revealed that if any Nexus member involved in the match, then Barrett would lose automatically. So Barrett was surprised when his Nexus crew arrived to the ring during the match. He told them to go backstage several times, but they chose to stay instead.

During the match, as Nexus surrounded the ring they were suddenly surprised as Big Show, Mark Henry, Goldust and other susperstars from backstage arrived out to drive them off with an attack. Cena smiled as he saw the WWE superstars were behind his cause.

In the late stages of the match, a surprise came. Cena had the STF but then a random fan came to interfere. While the ref was trying to restore order, another mysterious individual rushed in to attack Cena. With Cena knocked down, Barrett took the pinfall victory, defeating John Cena!

Winner: Wade Barrett wins via pinfall over John Cena.

Natalya vs Michelle McCool
Divas Championship

Natalya looked poised for the win as she was able to re-apply the Sharpshooter to McCool. McCool struggled to avoid tapping. Suddenly, Layla was up on the apron and tossed a shoe at Natalya. The ref immediately called for the bell, disqualifying McCool due to Layla’s interference. Natalya chased LayCool out of the ring. Michelle is still Divas champ.

Winner: Natalya wins due to disqualification against Michelle McCool when Layla interfered.

Kane vs. The Undertaker

In the late part of this Hell in a Cell match, there were three refs involved at one point after one had become knocked down. Several officials and extra refs came from backstage to help the one ref from inside the cell out. Meanwhile, Paul Bearer was inside the cell area and got locked in. Kane saw him and walked over towards Bearer saying he souldn’t have come back. Bearer tried to cowwer away as Kane was menacing him.

Just then, Undertaker sat up. He grabbed Kane and hit the Chokeslam. Taker looked at Bearer who held up the urn. Taker prepared for his Tombstone as he did the slit throat sign. Just then, loud thunder noises came into the arena as the lights flickered. Bearer opened up the urn and a light shined out into the Undertaker’s eyes. While Taker was blinded, Bearer gave Kane the urn.

From there, Kane clocked Taker in the face with the urn, then hit a chokeslam for the victory. Kane is still the world Champion. Michael Cole questioned why Bearer would help Undertaker when he was on the brink of destruction only to destroy him yet again?

Winner: Kane wins via pinfall over The Undertaker to retain the World Championship.

September 20, 2010 Leave a comment

Welcome to WWE Characters the Blog, 2010 Night of Champions PPV results page. Here you’ll find updated results from Sunday, September 19th Pay-Per-View “Night of Champions” featuring all of the titles in the WWE on the line! Results will start to be posted just after 8PM EST and updated through 11PM EST when the PPV officially goes off the air.

This year’s card will of course feature every possible title being contested and two titles (Womens/Divas) being unified. There’s plenty of compelling matches including the Six Pack Challenge for the WWE Title and No Holds Barred for the World Heavyweight Title! Both
Smackdown and Raw will be well represented on the card.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler Intercontinental Champion

A stipulation is attached to this match that if Dolph Ziggler is either disqualified or counted out, he will automatically lose the title to Kofi Kingston.

In the final moments of this match, Dolph Ziggler eluded Kofi Kingston’s “Trouble in Paradise” and then was able to hit his finisher the “Zig Zag” for the win. Dolph Ziggler retains the Intercontinental Championship in a well fought match!

Winner: Dolph Ziggler wins via pinfall over Kofi Kingston to retain the Intercontinental title.

Big Show vs. CM Punk

The Chicago crowd seemed to rally behind the hometown hero CM Punk despite him berating them for their anti-straight edge ways prior to the match. In the match, Punk tried his best to use strike attacks to kick Show down, but in the end it was Big Show using his trademark KO punch to put Punk down.

Winner: Big Show wins by pinfall over CM Punk.

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz United States Championship

In a match of former student versus teacher, Miz’s former NXT rookie Daniel Bryan challenged for the US title. Despite having his newer NXT rookie Alex Riley at ringside, The Miz was unable to capture the victory. Instead, it was Daniel Bryan locking in his Labelle Lock submission hold forcing Miz to tap out! Daniel Bryan is the new US Champion!

Winner: Daniel Bryan wins via submission hold over The Miz to become new United States Champion.

Melina vs Michelle McCool Divas and Women’s Championship Unification Lumberjill Match

In the closing moments, chaos erupted as Melina and Michelle were both on the outside. Melina managed to get back into the ring as the Lumberjills focused their attack on McCool on the outside. Meanwhile, Layla snuck into the ring and attacked Melina. Melina was able to overcome the attack and toss Layla outside the ring. Michelle McCool was able to get back into the ring and take advantage of a distracted Melina, surprising her with the attack and pinfall for the win. McCool is now the unified womens champion.

Winner: Michelle McCool wins via pinfall over Melina to become Unified Womens Champion.

The Undertaker vs. Kane World Heavyweight Championship
(No Holds Barred Match)

The Brothers of Destruction unleashed all of Hell upon each other in this No Holds Barred contest. The match was out of the ring, in the ring and all over the place. In the end, the Undertaker tried to use his trademark Tombstone Piledriver to finish off his little brother. However, Kane was ready with the reverse and hit his own Tombstone to win it! Kane retains the World Title!

Winner: Kane wins via pinfall over The Undertaker to retain the World Heavyweight Title.

Tag Team Turmoil Match

This match for the tag team championship was a Gauntley Style matchup involving a total of five tag teams. First up for the Hart Dynasty was The Usos.

In the first of the matches, The Usos got the surprise pinfall win over the current tag team champions, eliminating the Hart Dynasty from the running! Next up they dispatched of Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov by pinfall. The third team involved was Mark Henry and the high-flying Evan Bourne from Raw, who were able to grab a pinfall victory over The Usos. That brought in the final tag team of the match, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre from Smackdown. In the end after a hard fought battle, Cody Rhodes was able to secure the victory after hitting Cross Rhodes for the pinfall. Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes are the new tag team champions!

Winners: Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre win via pinfall over Mark Henry & Evan Bourne to become new tag team champions.

WWE Championship Six Pack Elimination Challenge

Defending the title in this match is current champion Sheamus, with his opponents: John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge, Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett.

Early in the match, the wrestler who says he’s the best in the world at what he does was hit by a quick RKO by Orton. That made Jericho the very first elimination in the six pack challenge. The remaining five fought it out for some time afterwords, until Edge was able to gain momentum, hitting the Spear on both Orton and Sheamus. However, John Cena was quick to deliver an Attitude Adjustment on Edge for the second elimination of the night.

Soon afterwords, Wade Barrett’s Nexus faction arrived to the ring, providing a distraction which caused John Cena to fall prey to Barrett’s finisher. After the Wasteland Slam, John Cena was the third elimination. That left Barrett, Sheamus and Orton competing over the WWE Championship.

About two minutes after Cena’s elimination, Barrett went for his Wasteland Slam on Randy Orton. Orton was able to slide out of the move and hit a backbreaker on Barrett. He waited for Barrett to get up and then hit him with the RKO for the fourth elimination.

It’s down to Randy Orton vs Sheamus for the WWE Championship. Sheamus had been on the outside but came back into the ring to connect with his Brogue Kick to level Orton. He pinned The Viper, who managed to kick out just before three. Sheamus was irate and went for his High Cross finisher. However, Orton slipped out of that and caught him with the quick RKO. 1-2-3 Orton is your new WWE Champion!

Post-match, Orton celebrated his moment, as the new WWE Champion. The Pay-Per-View ended with Orton still celebrating, with no sign of The Miz coming to cash in his MITB briefcase.

Winner: Randy Orton wins via pinfall over Sheamus to become the new WWE Champion.

The World Heavyweight Champion Kane arrived to the ring. His agenda, to answer Undertaker’s “No Holds Barred” stipulation he suggested for their Night of Champions matchup on Sunday. The Big Red Monster said Sunday will be the final chapter in the epic rivalry between he and Undertaker. He said this time the story won’t end as it has before- with Taker returning and summoning the power of the darkside to vanquish his opponent. Kane said this time he will be the author of the Undertaker’s demise.

Kane said the powers that were once Undertaker’s now belong to him. Kane said on Sunday the plot he hatched thirteen years ago will have finalized, as Undertaker becomes a distant memory. He screamed that this time things end on his terms. Kane brought up Taker’s No Holds Barred stipulation, saying it’s exactly what he wanted. Kane said his brother’s pride has played right into his hands, because there will be no rules Sunday.
Kane said at NOC, the Devil’s Favorite Demon will make sure Undertaker “Rests In – .” Kane was cut off by Undertaker’s bells, and then his theme music and entrance pyro. Kane looked up the ramp awaiting Taker’s arrival. Taker walked out from backstage and down to the ring. However as Taker got down the ramp near the ring, the lights went out completely. As they came back on, Kane was standing on the ramp behind Undertaker. He used the World Title to shove into Taker’s gut, then started the attack.

Kane dominated his brother as he beat him up near the crowd barrier and smashed him against the steel steps. Kane kept going with the beatdown, punching Taker in the face as he struggled, then throwing him face first to the ringpost before throwing more punches. Taker punched back but Kane rammed him into the barrier. As Taker got up, Kane whipped him towards the timekeeper’s area, then smashed him face first onto the commentators table.

Back in the ring, Kane used Taker’s own moves, including Snake Eyes, a huge boot to take him down, and then setting up for the Chokeslam. As Taker finally got up, Kane grabbed him by the throat and chokeslammed him to the mat then did Taker’s own cutthroat signal. Taker struggled to get up again as Kane laughed about it. Kane grabbed Undertaker and hit the Tombstone Piledriver then laughed some more about it before he kneeled down Taker style. Kane’s pyro exploded from the ringposts as his music played on to finish out Smackdown.

Raw Results from Los Angeles

Chris Jericho vs. Wade Barrett
The other Nexus members watched the match on a TV back in the locker room. Late in the match, Jericho managed to turn Barrett over for Walls of Jericho. Barrett was close enough to reach out and grab the bottom rope. Wade delivered a huge boot to take Jericho down for a near fall. Moments later, Jericho used a spinning kick to knock Barrett down near the ropes. Jericho waited for him to get up and charged at him, jumping up for a Codebreaker. Barrett caught him though and slammed Jericho down from his shoulders for the pin. The other Nexus guys backstage nodded at each other over their leader’s opening win.

Winner: Wade Barrett wins via pinfall over Chris Jericho.

Ring announcer introduced Jason Sedakis, Charlie Day and Justin Long, the stars of “Going the Distance” which opens September 3rd. They all got in the ring and started yelling about Raw, then brought up the NBA Champions. Sedakis brought up how the Heat will be next year’s champions. Justin Long said the Lakers are a dynasty just like the tag champs they’re about to introduce, The Hart Dynasty. The Harts got in the ring and hugged/shook hands with the 3 celebs who then took off up the ramp. Another email came through for Cole to read. The GM said from now on the Unified Tag Team titles will be known as the WWE Tag Team Championships. To present the new titles, WWE Hall of Famer Bret “the Hitman” Hart.

Daniel Bryan vs. Michael Tarver
Cole talked of how Bryan’s a 10-year veteran in wrestling’s minor leagues. The crowd got behind him with a “Daniel Bryan” chant as Cole said he didn’t get it. Bryan used multiple kicks on Tarver in the corner to wear him down. Bryan went on a tear as he hit a huge dropkick off the corner to take Tarver down, then flipped up to his feet Shawn Michaels style. Just then, The Miz and his NXT rookie Alex Riley came charging down the ramp. Daniel Bryan turned to face them and they stopped before getting in the ring. Tarver used the distraction to grab Bryan from behind and get a rollup pin for the surprise victory on Bryan.

The Miz and Riley talked up what they had done on the outside, but Bryan came from the other side of the ring running and hit a suicide dive on The Miz. Bryan got up to start beating on The Miz, but soon Riley and Tarver restrained him. The Miz charged full force and tackled Bryan into the crowd barrier, then pounded away on Bryan. Riley put the MITB briefcase nearby, and then Miz hit the SkullCrushing Finale on the MITB case. Michael Cole said “hey little man welcome to the big time.” Nexus is now 2-for-2 on their wins against Team WWE guys.

Winner: Michael Tarver wins via pinfall over Daniel Bryan.

Cole and Lawler reviewed what just went down involving The Miz and Daniel Bryan. The Miz and Alex Riley were backstage bragging still, when Josh Matthews caught up with him. Matthews asked Miz to explains his actions. Miz said from the day he started mentoring Daniel Bryan, fans heckled him saying Bryan was better than him. Miz said last night Team WWE put him on the backbunrer in favor of Daniel Bryan. Miz said “How special is Daniel Bryan now?” The Miz said the next breakout star will be Alex Riley. Riley cut a promo saying he’s the next breakout star and he owes it all to his pro, The Miz.

Nexus members were having a conversation in the locker room when Darren Young piped up. He said he decided he wants to be the guy to face John Cena tonight. Young said Cena beat him up weeks ago, and tonight he wants to return the favor. The other Nexus guys said they respect his willingness to step up. Justin Gabriel arrived to the ring for the next match.

Bret Hart vs. Justin Gabriel
With Gabriel already in the ring, another email from the GM came through which Cole read. This one said that Bret Hart won’t be competing against Gabriel tonight. The GM said “I don’t like Bret Hart and never want to see him compete on Raw again.” Instead, the anonymous GM chose a substitute opponent, Randy Orton. The Viper arrived out with a smirk on his face as Gabriel shook his head.

Gabriel had some early attacks but at one point, Orton grabbed his leg and held it to coldly stare into Gabriel’s eyes. From there, it was a series of Orton attacks including a powerslam and then the DDT from the middle ropes. Orton got down and began to pound the mat, ready for a RKO if Gabriel got up. Just then, Sheamus came down the ramp. Orton went out after him, cloteshlining Sheamus over the crowd barrier. Orton continued beating on Sheamus in the audience until he was eventually counted out.

Orton had made his way back to the crowd barrier, knocking Sheamus over it. As Gabriel was announced winner, Orton rushed into the ring and got behind him. He spun Gabriel around and hit the RKO. Several refs got in the ring and Orton exited. He went over and grabbed a steel chair. From there he repeatedly bashed the chair on Sheamus. Refs finally got Orton away from Sheamus. Suddenly, Orton broke away and ran back around the ring where Sheamus was on his feet. He hit the RKO to drive Sheamus face-first to the outer floor.

Winner: Justin Gabriel wins due to countout of Randy Orton.

Cole and Lawler reviewed the highlights of the end of the Orton-Gabriel match as well as the aftermath with Sheamus.

John Morrison & R-Truth vs. David Otunga & Skip Sheffield
Late in the match, Truth made the hot tag to his partner Morrison. J-Mo came in and took down Otunga then punched Sheffield on the apron. Morrison was in control and whipped Otunga to the ropes then dropkicked him down. However, Sheffield made the tag on Otunga’s back near the ropes. He came in and clobbered Morrison then knocked Truth off the apron. Sheffield backed up to the corner and waited for JMo to stand, then hit his running clothesline on him to win it. The Nexus guys were in the locker room watching with approval. Cole said that Heath Slater isn’t there because he’s got a huge matchup with Edge coming up.

Winners: David Otunga & Skip Sheffield win via pinfall over John Morrison & R-Truth.

They showed Eve walking backstage with Gail Kim and the new Divas champion Melina.

WWE Slam of the Week showed still images from last night where Melina won the Divas Championship. Team LayCool arrived out to share in the special moment, attacking Melina. They beat up and layed out Melina ringside then layed down to gloat near here.

Eve, Gail Kim & Melina vs. Jillian, Maryse & Alicia Fox
During the match, they showed John Lovitz, comedian and former Raw guest host, sitting in the crowd. Melina was getting beat up by Alicia Fox but eventually broke away and tagged in Eve. Jillian came in, with Eve getting the upperhand and a near fall. Alicia came in to break it up, with Melina rushing in to break up the pinfall. The action broke down with all the divas getting involved. Gail Kim came in to take out Maryse while Melina fought Alicia to the outside. Eve had control in the ring of Jillian and prepared for her moonsault off the corner. However, Jillian came over and grabbed Eve then slammed her down for a pinfall win.

Winners: Jillian, Alicia Fox & Maryse win via pinfall over Melina, Eve & Gail Kim.

Josh Matthews interviewed Edge backstage about last night’s Team WWE victory. Edge said it was great that the team he lead got the victory. Just then, Heath Slater walked up to Edge. Edge told Matthews to leave. Slater said they’ve got a match tonight. He told Edge he’s patterned himself after Edge. Slater suggested maybe Edge shouldn’t show up tonight. Edge said he doesn’t want the record books showing he forfeited to some Wendy looking ginger-haired Edge wannabe. Edge started to walk off, but Slater bashed him down from behind.

When Raw returned Jerry Lawler pointed out that actor Joe Manganiello from HBO’s “True Blood” was seated behind him in the Raw crowd.

Heath Slater vs. Edge
Edge avoided Slater’s attack in the corner then came back to take him down multiple times, including his trademark back slam to the mat. Slater countered an Edge move from against the ropes by letting Edge hit the mat face first. Moments later, Edge spear tackled Slater in the corner. Slater went to the outside, and Edge went for a baseball slide dropkick. Slater moved aside but Edge still got him with a big boot kick. With Slater recovering, Edge prepared for a Spear on the outside. Edge went for it but Slater moved away and quickly got into the ring to beat the countout. Edge was the second Team WWE guy counted out.

Post match, he rushed back into the ring and Speared Slater down anyways as his prize for the victory.

Winner: Heath Slater wins due to countout of Edge.

Backstage, Justin Long was talking with Great Khali and his translator Ranjin Singh. Khali told Singh to ask Long for advice about his girlfriend and the long distance relationship back in India. Singh handed Long a picture of Khali’s girl and it made Long wince. Just then Long’s 2 co-stars came walking in and grabbed the picture. Sedakis screamed at it saying “who the hell is that?” Long told them it was Khali’s girlfriend. Singh started to translate but they told him they were just having some fun. Singh said ok and left. Khali grabbed the pic back and Sedakis and Day took off. Long crumpled up the pic and tossed it. Just then, The Bella Twins came in and told Khali he was looking extra strong tonight. Khali walked off with the Bellas. Long shrugged and said “must have been an arranged relationship.”

Cole and Lawer introduced Summerslam Recall which showed the various TV spots and events leading up to Sunday’s Summerslam including The Miz on “The George Lopez late Night Show”. Also shown were highlights from WWE’s Summerslam Axxess.

John Cena was shown walking backstage on his way out to the ring. He stopped to say what’s up to several backstage people.

After break, they showed highlights from last month’s Raw where Cena took out his frustrations on Nexus member Darren Young. Young was now in the ring waiting for his main event match against Cena.

John Cena vs. Darren Young
Once Cena got into the ring, all the other members of Nexus came out to stand side-by-side at the top of the ramp to watch.

Late in the match, Cena gained control knocking Young down for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He had Young up for the Attitude Adjustment, but Young slipped off. Still, Cena kept on him and put him into the STF. Nexus members on the ramp were cheering for Young not to tap. Young couldn’t withstand the move and tapped out.

All of the other members rushed to surround the ring, as they got on the apron. Cena stepped out onto the other apron and dropped to the floor, leaving them to deal with Darren Young. Nexus got in the ring with the sole losing member of the group, Darren Young who stumbled up to his feet. Young pleaded with leader Wade Barrett a bit, but then got hammered down from behind by Nexus members. They all ganged up and gave a solid beatdown on Young. They stood up Young for Sheffield’s running clothesline. Barrett picked up Young on his shoulders and hit his finisher next. They pulled Young over towards the corner for the finale, Justin Gabriel’s 450 Splash.

Barrett and a couple others left the ring then got back in. Cole and Lawler reviewed a highlight reel of Nexus beating up Darren Young. The remaining six members of Nexus stood side-by-side in the ring with arms raised as Darren Young was layed out on the mat.

Winner: John Cena wins due to submission over Darren Young.

The Nexus arrived out first for the main event. After they were in the ring, it was time for Team WWE intros. Cena was out first and stood ringside as the next members of the team were intro’d. Edge, R-Truth, Chris Jericho, John Morrison and Bret Hart each got separate intros. Next, The Miz’s music hit and he arrived out as the star of the show. Cena interrupted though. He let Miz know that he was too late in making a decision, because it was done the day of Summerslam. He said they already found someone else who hates Nexus as much as the rest of them. Cena introduced the 7th member of the team…Daniel Bryan! Bryan walked past the Miz and then joined Team WWE for the match.

Daniel Bryan made an immediate impact as he came in and locked a Crossface submission hold on Darren Young to make him tap out in under a minute. Young eliminated, 7-on-6 advantage for Team WWE. Team WWE was on a roll minutes later, as John Morrison completed Starship Pain on Michael Tarver to make it 7-5 Team WWE. However, the next two eliminations belonged to The Nexus as Skip Sheffield used his big clothesline to take down John Morrison for a pinfall and then R-Truth (5-5). Next up, Bret Hart was eventually in to do some damage. Hart looked amazing in the ring with a series of intense strikes on Heath Slater. Someone from Nexus slid a steel chair into the ring which Hart picked up and smashed onto Slater. Hart was DQ’d for the incident, making it 5-4 for The Nexus. Jericho hit a Codebreaker on Skip Sheffield and then Edge came in for The Spear to get the pinfall, making it 4-4.

After Chris put the Walls of Jericho on David Otunga and eliminated him (4-3 WWE), then Heath Slater rushed in to attack. After the surprise, Slater scored the pinfall on Jericho (3-3). Edge started arguing with Cena about Jericho being eliminated, so Heath Slater grabbed Edge from behind for another pinfall, leaving just John Cena and Daniel Bryan for Team WWE (3-2 Nexus).

John Cena got knocked off the apron, but Justin Gabriel went out to throw him back in. The Nexus began to beat on Cena in their corner with a 3-on-1 attack. Cena managed to regain control of Justin Gabriel and had him up for the Attitude Adjustment. Gabriel escaped it and hit a DDT on Cena. Cena continued to withstand a lot of beating from Nexus as Daniel Bryan looked for the hot tag. Cena finally made the tag and in came Daniel Bryan!

Daniel Bryan was on fire and was able to use the crossface submission once again to eliminate Heath Slater this time, evening the sides at 2 apiece. However, after Slater dove out of the ring at Justin Gabriel, The Miz was there to smash Bryan in the face with the MITB briefcase. From there, Wade Barrett scored a pinfall to bring it down to 2-on-1 Barrett & Gabriel versus John Cena.

Gabriel had the advantage on Cena, however he missed on a 450 Splash attempt. Cena made a quick cover to eliminate Gabriel, bringing it down to John Cena versus Wade Barrett 1-on-1. Wade Barrett rushed into the ring, but was quickly taken down by John Cena. After a tap out from Barrett, John Cena won the match for Team WWE!

(1) Darren Young via Danielson at 0:42.
(2) Michael Tarver via Morrison at 3:34.
(3) John Morrison via Sheffield at 7:31.
(4) R-Truth via Sheffield at 7:58.

John Cena vs. Sheamus
WWE Championship Steel Cage match

Late in this one, John Cena and Sheamus were worn down as the match went past 15 minutes. Cena went for the Attitude Adjustment and hit it, but Sheamus was able to kick out of the pinfall attempt. Both guys recovered from the offensive attacks and The Nexus arrived to ringside. Michael Tarver had a pair of bolt-cutters but the ref snatched them from him. Nexus tried to get the keys from the ref, but he wisely pulled them from his pocket and threw them into the crowd. Nexus told the ref he was a dead man.

Meanwhile, the ref on the inside was looking at what was going on outside the ring and got bumped into the cage wall by Cena and Sheamus. Cena was able to lock on the STF, but there was no available ref when Sheamus tapped. Cena began to climb the wall, but Justin Gabriel cut him off. Cena tossed him into the cage. Sheamus started making a climb as well, with Heat Slather fighting him from the other side. Sheamus fought off Slater. Both guys were fighting Nexus members on sides of the cage. However, Sheamus knocked Slater off the wall, then dropped to the floor. The ref was just coming to and saw Sheamus’ feet hit the ground, giving him the win. Cena dropped to the outside as well but was definitely frustrated with the loss.

After Sheamus took off into the crowd, Cena took out his frustration. He threw Darren Young into the side of the cage wall, then hit a huge running clothesline on Michael Tarver. Cena took apart the ring steps and tossed the top part right into Tarver’s head. Cena screamed that he said he’d take every one of them out. Cena took a Nexus armband and went backstage as the PPV ended.

Winner: Sheamus escapes the Steel Cage to retain the WWE Championship.

Jack Swagger vs. Rey Mysterio
World Championship Match

After about seven minutes, Swagger had control and hit his second try for the Gutwrench Powerbomb. However, Swagger’s in attempt was very close to the ropes and Rey Mysterio got his foot up to break it up. Later in the match, Swagger connected on two of his running splash moves with Rey layed out near the corner. He began to stomp away on Rey’s hurt ankle and then stood on it until the ref ordered him to stop. Rey loosened up the protective boot on his injury. As Swagger went for the Anklelock, the boot slipped off. Rey was able to connect on a Hurricanrana for the pinfall win.

Following the match, Swagger did more damage to Rey applying the ankle lock yet again. However, the Smackdown MITB winner Kane’s music hit. Kane arrived out without his briefcase though. He took Jack Swagger backstage after gaining the advantage on him.

Winner: Rey Mysterio wins via pinfall over Jack Swagger to retain the World Heavyweight Title.

Kane vs. Rey Mysterio
World Heavyweight Title match

The Big Red Monster Kane wasted little time in cashing in his freshly won Money in the Bank briefcase. Kane immediately came out to challenge the already injured Mysterio for the belt after disposing of Jack Swagger.

Mysterio tried to dodge Kane early by giving him a “run around”. However, Kane grabbed Mysteriop by his ankle and brought him down to the mat. Next up it was the chokeslam. With Rey incapacitated, Kane finished him off with Undertaker’s “Tombstone Piledriver” for the win. Kane becomes the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Winner: Kane wins via pinfall over Rey Mysterio to become World Heavyweight Champion.

Raw MITB Ladder Match

Competing in the Raw Money in the Bank ladder match are: John Morrison, Evan Bourne, Ted Dibiase, Randy Orton, The Miz, Chris Jericho, Edge and Mark Henry.

In the late stages of the Raw ladder match, Bourne got up and had his hands on the briefcase. However, Chris Jericho was able to get up the ladder to interfere. Bourne punched Jericho off several times. Jericho was persistent though and eventually hit Bourne with the case to send him off the ladder. Edge went up the ladder next, since Jericho couldn’t grab the swining case. Randy Orton got into the ring and was able to RKO Jericho off the ladder, then tossed Edge off the ladder next. Orton seemed to have the briefcase in his sights. The Miz re-entered the ring though and quickly shoved Orton off the ladder. From there, Miz climbed up, unhooked the swinging briefcase and won the match.

Winner: The Miz wins the Raw MITB Ladder match to get a future WWE Championship match at his choosing.

Smackdown MITB Ladder Match

Competing in the Smackdown Money in the Bank ladder match are: Big Show, Christian, Dashing Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Kane, Kofi Kingston and Matt Hardy.

The Smackdown MITB opened the PPV with all eight scheduled superstars participating. At one point, Kofi Kingston hit his double Boom leg drop from off a ladder onto Drew McIntyre on the announce table. In another spot, Big Show was able to get his specially-built reinforced double ladder set up in the ring. However, Cody Rhodes attacked from behind to prevent Show’s climb. From there, Ziggler came in and got Rhodes with the Electric Chair to slam him down.

Towards the end of the thrilling first match, Christian and Matt Hardy were both moving up the ladder. The two competitors fought with each other and eventually knocked themselves off together. Drew McIntyre got up from outside the ring and slid into the ring. Drew seemed to have the advantage as he was halfway up the ladder. However, the Big Red Monster got back into the ring. Kane climbed up after McIntyre and shoved him off the ladder, then climbed up and pulled down the briefcase to win the match.

Winner: Kane wins the Smackdown MITB briefcase with future World Championship contract.
